Sev puri is my new favorite snack.
They are built on a crispy base of cream of wheat called a chaat or puri. Topped with tasty things like cooked potatoes, chickpeas, herbs, green chutney, and finally a crispy topping of chaat masala. It was a lot of spicy flavor in a perfectly sized snack. I've since described them as "Indian nachos, but cold, not hot" to non-Indian friends. (It's tough for me to remember names of ethnic foods.) Hearty enough for hungry snackers, but light enough that you don't enter Indian food comas as I often do after proper lunch buffets. Have a samosa on the side. The couple that runs ICS were more amused than offended by my ignorance. I think my enthusiasm for their menu amused everyone in the restaurant. "I will come back again and again to try everything." A couple Indian ladies giggled with me when the owners asked if I was marking my takeout menu to keep track.
