Sandwiches. I've been eating a lot of them. You're gonna see quite a few more. Maybe there's a stretch of the word, but in essence, breads with fillings. All kinds. You recently saw the cheeseburger post. Look at some tortas I've tried recently at Cooks. I'm turning into a big Cooks-fan. It's close to my grandma's house in Monterey Park, though I wouldn't take her there. These sandwiches are bigger than she is. Pork, shrimp, whatever. I've been a repeat customer for the past month or so, going every chance I get. They are all good. Fantastic bread. A photo here shows a Mexican Coke, but I'm getting an agua next time...

Pork. This was the first one I tried and still my favorite.

The menu chalkboard wall. They've got a bunch of recipes that they rotate daily on the board. Everything is fresh. Non-traditional, traditional. Doesn't matter. They stand behind all of these. There's another board, smaller one, on the facing wall, that has their drinks and sides selections. I like the sweet potato fries when they have them, but their salads are good too.

Here's a shrimp po' boy. It was good, but it had capers in it. I'm not a fan. Cooks uses them liberally in many sandwiches. I'll probably have to tell them to hold back a bit on those next time. Don't eliminate it altogether--I have trust in whoever is back there in the kitchen. If they think it needs capers, so be it. But there's only so much I can handle.

Seriously, you're going to see more sandwiches here on the blog.

You should enter our next Sandwich Party. There's a flickr group too. I'll let you know when we decide on the date for the next one.
