The Huntington

This weekend, instead of battling the crowds at Disneyland for Cars Land's first weekend (I actually heard it wasn't too bad at the main park), I decided to take a quiet, relaxing stroll through the Huntington.

Sure, it's still more crowded than you expect for gardens; I think because it coincided with this year's Bloomsday and Father's Day. In any case, you would still consider this a hot ticket in Southern California—I advise early arrival. Parking can fill up quickly.

Imagine, for $20, you can have access to some 120 acres of gardens and beautiful works of art. A bargain in these times for a little escape from the city or the suburbs. This is a little out of the ordinary for most. Just at the edge of Pasadena in San Marino. Worth a visit if the weather isn't too hot or cold.

How can you argue with this face? These days I know it's hard to believe, but children can enjoy a day without being bombarded with movie tie-ins and junk food.

This is all I have for photos. It was a special excursion for myself, so I opted for a film camera. Which may have been a complete waste as I have no idea what kind of film I had loaded.*

I am seriously considering a membership.

* The number of companies that still do film processing is dwindling. A quick search turns up Dwayne's which lists reasonable rates and they do 110 film. Sending a batch of business their way shortly. Do any of you readers have other suggestions? Does Costco still do wet-processing in-house? I know Walmart discontinued it.

Samy's Camera and Lomography still process. I'm trying to remember what lab I used in SF, it came out to about $16 for one color roll but it was worth it. Was very pleased with the colors.

Found it! http://www.photoworkssf.com/services-and-rates/mail-us-your-film

Some Walmarts still have photo centers! I heard there's a Kodak shop in Glendale? Hear they are good too.
