Alice 92

I was recently in a department store, a particular one popular with average joes on a modest middle class budget. I was looking for a deal on name brand jeans (didn't find) and while wandering the store, found on an electronics table, a device that can digitize your old audio cassettes from the 1980s. I knew such a thing existed(!)—though I never really looked for one—and I won't post a link to the item here because the reviews I've looked at since are negative almost entirely across the board.

Do I have a reason to pay upwards of $60 for this sort of thing?

Well it's certainly not urgent. I'd forgotten all about this Alice in Chains concert tape from 1992. The B-Side has a concert by the Gin Blossoms (LMAO!). Found it while cleaning house. I remember exactly how this came into my possession.

I was in high school and my family was hosting a party. My cousins were over and while things were winding down, we left and went up to the mountains for late night fishing. Stop at a small town Walmart for fishing supplies and random odds and ends, McDonald's for food. Oh it was freezing up there. The snow hadn't fully melted yet. I wasn't dressed for the weather. We all took turns warming up in the van and using the heater to make the fries less icy cold. My nose ran continually throughout the night. Their ideas on bait repulsed me and oh did you know that at night, fish are at rest and surround themselves with a slime? Ugghhh. We caught a bunch and it was a lot of fun. We listened to this Alice in Chains/Gin Blossoms tape on loop in the van both ways. How many times did I hear "Rooster?" A lot! We all got pretty fed up with the Gin Blossoms. I said, "It's like hearing the same song over and over!" One of the cousins shouted, "No! It's like hearing one long song! And it's not that good!" They gave me the tape at the end because I liked Alice a lot at the time and they were fully sick of hearing it anyway.

Ha! Maybe the memory is good enough. I don't need to hear it, much less digitize it for posterity.
