My Japanese American Mom.

empirical: i was at costco
...but i was thinking about you??
some guy: lies
you were buying shit in bulk

Yeah. I bought 63 oz teriyaki sauce for $7.
Is that good?

Here's a random thing: Every year in the fall--every single year--over one weekend, my mother is in charge of cooking 650 lbs of teriyaki chicken for bento boxes; she does this as part of her church group's fundraiser. I am not a religious person at all, but they do make pretty good bento.

My mother's recipe for teriyaki sauce is better than most. Last year they made too much so they bottled the excess. I got two bottles as a result which I poured onto vegetables, Spam (for musubis), chicken, anything... It ran out fast and I begged mom to make a batch but she informed me that one recipe makes nearly two gallons. The measurements are in units that are too difficult to reduce and the sauce will undoubtedly turn out wrong.

My mother confided that she has a 'backup sauce.' She always makes enough but the day she doesn't, she's running to Costco to buy a jug of the commercial stuff. Well that was enough of an endorsement for me so that's where I was. That's what I was buying.

I also bought a pizza and a churro. I bought my mom a hotdog.
