I've lost the spirit of Halloween over the past few years and I'm determined to get back into the swing of things. For the month of October, I've loaded my Netflix queue with horror classics (this kind of explains my last blog post but I added most titles after the fact). Most of them I've seen already, but not since I was a little kid.
I love a guided movie-watching project especially when I'm at a loss when adding films to my queue. In the past we've done filmmakers [Jarmusch; John Waters; Woody Allen (incomplete); Coens; Wong Kar Wai (incomplete)], actors [Kevin Spacey; Keanu Reeves], etc. So here's a Halloween-themed one that you're welcome to join me on.
So on that note, let's work through the Halloween franchise first and begin the project and the month off strong; I have not seen any of the recent ones anyway. Queue up Halloween (1978) to start. John Carpenter wrote/directed this fantastic movie and see Jamie Lee Curtis in her first film role (that I know of). I'm watching it under fluorescent lighting in a noisy office and it's still scary.
Watch some movies and work on your costumes. Let's have fun this month.
UPDATE: Seriously, I'm giving you time to catch up. Find a copy of the necessary films. We're picking up the pace next week with Halloween II. I will be putting up topics for discussion, so be prepared.
UPDATE: Yeah, that was a joke. I'm not really putting discussion questions up. Check the sidebar for my dvd playlist and follow along if you want.
