The Weekend of Good Donuts.

We regret to inform you that The Weekend of Good Donuts was last weekend. Sorry for the confusion.

I think I mentioned it on my Twitter and my Facebook, but not here. I picked up my first strawberry donut of the season last Saturday at The Donut Man. My camera wasn't charged--in fact it still isn't--so I took a couple Polaroids instead (the images will be digitized eventually). Good year for strawberries! Large juicy fruit; the donut was as good if not better than usual.

I took one of Jim's chocolate bars for the road but forgot about it until the next day. A little dry but still enjoyable.

The weekend began with a glazed twist from Mama's Donuts in the Valley. I've never been myself but I hear Mama's has been around for years and it's not hard to see why; this might be the best glazed ever. I prefer raised (I still like cake-style too) and hers was light in texture, with no stale-grease heaviness. The glaze was not too thick or gloopy but a nice sheen that didn't crumble all over the place. Perfect donuts?

UPDATE: Polaroids
