Today's News.

This morning I got voicemail from Alex, formerly of Alexeats (an Inland Empirical project some of you may remember) who just got back into town. Tried calling him back but no answer. I left a lengthy message for him filled with odds and ends but did make a note of the Gyoza Eating Contest that was being held this afternoon. "You should head down and get in as a late entry..." I had to miss the event and had no plans to head to J-Town for Nisei Week events; not even this one. Wanted to, since it was making its triumphant return from 2006. There was no Gyoza Contest last year and this is only the second time the event has been hosted by Nisei Week [or anyone, I believe].

He did not compete but called back to let me know that he did make it down there as a spectator and that Joey Chestnut took first place again and even bested his own record. So, sorry readers, I did not attend but I still try to bring the news.

Reason for absence: I was at a baby shower all day. A cousin of mine soon to become a first-time father. Great food, met some new people, AIR CONDITIONING. Fun times.

Pretty beat right now. I've spent the evening reviewing some footage from the road trip. Some of it is quite bad as expected. A few things had me LOLing and were very nicely done. Getting excited about cutting this stuff up already to make that deadline I set for myself. Will probably post updates on that from time to time as I am no longer dragging my feet on it.
