I've been looking at those damned strawberry donut photos recently uploaded to my Flickr account (also shown in the previous post here) and it's frustrating because I've been sick as a dog.
I've been sick so long that this donut I ate a week ago is the last food I've ever tasted. Everything I've eaten since has been odorless and tasteless due to this stubborn "sinus infection." That on top of feeling miserable anyway has killed all desire to eat/drink. I've lost weight in the past week [decline to give exact figures]. I'm sure I'll pack it all back on within days of feeling better. Of course I will. No doubt my need for real butter will return, as well as for cheeses, fried foods, etc.
So thanks to the few friends who emailed and extra big thanks to the 2 concerned friends who telephoned over the weekend (one call came from NYC no less). Both were along the lines of, "WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?" and upon hearing my non-voice, "OH MY GOD, YOU 'RE DYING?"
I'm not dying.
Unfortunately, I discovered that my prescription meds were working very slowly. So slow and ineffective that I'd briefly considered going to Urgent Care in the middle of the night for a second opinion and hopefully get something stronger than this damned codeine that is definitely weaker than a healthy belt of bourbon. But thoughts of the Urgent Care visit from earlier this month (ankle injury, remember?) discouraged me. Jeez, I've missed a lot of work this year already. I haven't been to the office in over a week... I wonder if everyone will look different when I return?
It's frustrating when I'm sleepy and everyone is telling me to sleep and the very drugs I've been prescribed cause RESTLESSNESS. Oh come on! Why? I should have just gone with bourbon! And I'm already feeling so unproductive and hopeless and highly contagious.
I'll spare IE readers the uglier details of my illness. I'm sure you can imagine. Some of the more graphic moments even startled myself. As soon as I can taste again though, I'm going for another strawberry donut.

The scary thing about this latest epidemic is that no one I know has yet recovered from it...it's been four, five, six weeks in some cases. I guess the good news is that we're all back at work. Sounding like Janis Joplin clones, but still.
Ah jeez...
And I'm only Day 10.
ONLY?!
Ehhhhnnnnnn.....(slinks out of chair into sad pile under desk)
