When I'm walking around Downtown Los Angeles, someone will always stop me to ask for a restaurant recommendation. Something "fast and cheap." Well, these are the same people that are disappointed that I don't recommend anything Japanese so close to J-Town (or Little Tokyo, whichever way you call it). Xlixe Pizza. Yes, I spend more time explaining the ridiculous name and how it's pronounced ("slice") than what they actually serve. The food is simple. Pizza. They serve pizza, New York-style, by the slice if you like, with various topping choices. Located in Honda Plaza, on 2nd St. between Central and Alameda. Flat screen televisions, tuned to Travel Channel if you come for lunch on a weekday, and a very nice beer list.
If you are like the people that just want something "fast and cheap" no, I will not tell you where the nearest McDonald's or Carl's Jr is. What I will suggest is for you go down to Xlixe and get 2 slices and a can soda for $5.99. Any two slices. That includes the fancy stuff with spinach or portabella mushrooms. It won't look like a lot of food, I guarantee it will fill you up. They make it fresh and it will be a lot more satisfying than going to Subway again. Really, stop going to Subway. Aren't you sick of it by now?
Tip: They are not open for lunch on Mondays.
