Hot legs, Louis.
I didn't think it could be done, but aipohaku and I got to the Getty Center today to meet kinije using public transit.
- Metrolink (train)
- Metrorail (train)
- Metro bus
- Metro Rapid bus
And it only took TWO HOURS. Why don't more people do it???
Just kidding. Well, I'm being absolutely honest about how long it took, how inefficient, how complicated, but we did it and it was fun.
The Getty is beautiful. I haven't been since I was in college and minoring in art. 1997-ish.
Today, we looked at really old bronze statues (Hindu and Buddhist) on loan from the National Museum of Cambodia; early photography of Japan and samurai taken by an adventurous Italian man; tapestries; modern Chinese photography. We walked through the gardens. We saw a family of ducks swimming by. We picnicked on the lawn and drank coffee and shivered in the cold air. I was scolded by docents for taking photos of copyrighted art. Found overpriced 110 film at a kiosk but didn't buy it; the cashier was too jaded to realize how amazing it is (poor thing). Fantastic day.
