L.A. County Fair Opens This Saturday.

I'm pretty excited about Los Angeles County Fair after having a great time just a couple weeks ago at the Orange County Fair. L.A. County opens in just a few days and I'm already getting jokes, links, meal ideas, photos, etc from Empirical friends/readers. Something fried? Probably. Nachos again? Definitely and maybe a baked potato bigger than my own head. Oh, the ideas are swirling. Swirling like wine in my plastic cups at the wine tasting area. I'll do a flight.

L.A. County Fair 2010

Here's a billboard that went up on the 60 Freeway. I like the dig at FarmVille on this one. Overall this year's advertising is pretty nice, graphically. They'd been reusing their campaign for awhile now, glad to see it's been updated for 2010.

Unsure what day(s) I'll be heading to the Fairplex. Plan your visit now at lacountyfair.com. Runs Sept. 4 – Oct. 3.

Note: If you haven't noticed, I added a little "Calendar" section to the sidebar at the right where I'll be adding stickies for events that might interest you. Right now there's only one listing, but I'll try to add to it as much as possible. We'll see how that works out. On the other hand, if you have something coming up or out (ie. an event, a music or book release), let me know and maybe we can put it up and get the word out.

Must-dos:

- something fried, new, and revolting
- bake potato, size of head
- pet other people's goats
- take shelter at the horse races
- not be extremely, frighteningly obese

I think you should call me when you go and I may drive up/train up and join you - I like the fair! Best day for me honestly is Sept 25(flying solo that weekend - or Sept 18 if I take the kiddo). I'm camping next weekend but I could make it work out other days :)
