This was awhile ago. I was at El Monte bus station waiting for a transfer. I think heading home from hanging with Madmojo or Citizenrobot. I see a woman dressed like a saint. No idea which one. She was a very pale caucasian lady with rosy cheeks wearing a huge red dress with a full skirt and crinoline. It was trimmed with white--very Mrs. Claus-like--and she wore a matching cape. She looked like she should have been in a religious procession of some kind and not parading around the bus depot. Which she was. She was holding a little saint stautette wearing THE SAME EXACT OUTFIT SHE HAD ON with a little crown on it.
I haven't seen a statue like that since I was a very small child. I had a friend back then who came from a traditional Catholic family. Not just Catholic, but OLD SCHOOL HARDCORE stuff. They were old world Europeans and had those saint figures around the house. I think a more relaxed Catholic friend that I had in high school--a Filipino girl--had something like that too that she kept in her closet along with some Super Nintendo cartridges. I remember being creeped out by it the day she took it out to show me. Was it a Baptism gift or Confirmation? Not sure. Maybe a gift from birth? It was probably the saint from her birthdate. I think at the time I was more interested in playing Mortal Kombat.
So there you have it: two posts, one day, both labeled "transit" and "videogames."
