This one is no better.
Just a note to myself on Shepard Fairey's arrest at the DNC. Certainly it is upsetting hearing about the threat of police brutality "kick you in the fucking head!" and that he was held for 15 hours. Still, I am a little tickled that the guy's crime was plastering the city with his political posters. I just love the idea of artists actually believing in something, making something beautiful, and sharing it with the public so freely. We've discussed "street art" on Empirical in the past. Empirical does not condone defacing property. This is the difference. For me anyway. I'd be honored if Mr. Fairey plastered Empirical's property. You might feel differently. Let's agree that zip tying one of our nation's most influential and prolific artists was a tad excessive!
So this post turns out to have a point in the end! An improvement since the last one. One last note: BRING SCISSORS TO OFFICE.
