In Your Face, Arugula!

Okay, I know Empirical readers are growing mighty tired of hearing about this arugula obsession. I said it in my previous post, I'm quite boring. I'm not fighting bulls or crime. I'm not kicking out the jams. I'm not even on the same wavelength with most people when it comes to identifying an exciting event. A Trader Joe's opens in Chino Hills--that's what I call exciting.

So I went to check it out. I buy, among other things, a bag of prewashed arugula. No mistaking it this time as it's clearly labeled. So I just need pears and I'm good to go on making that salad I wanted a couple weeks ago.

I'm happy to report that it turned out pretty well. Handfuls of arugula, bartletts, walnuts, Danish blue cheese, a warm dressing of vinegar and a touch of brown sugar, some other seasonings. It was a nice dinner. I didn't photo it because it looked like hell. I will probably attempt it again tomorrow with the 2nd half of the arugula bag. Maybe it will look a bit better. Good thing is that I'm finally getting a little more confident in the kitchen. I made some scrambled eggs this morning for breakfast that were the right texture. Finally! I also got that bacon nice and crisp. Perfect.

Might attempt to improve on my brownies recipe.
