Don't know if anyone cares, but I do. I finally got around to cooking up the non-arugula. It went pretty smoothly. It's a time consuming process, particularly if effort for dinner is typically a stop at Del Taco. I suppose it beats the traditional way of cooking which can take hours of prep and watching a pot. I spent a good part of the weekend reading recipes for greens and other stuff. Trying to devise my own little cooking plans. Splitting the difference between this recipe and that. Also reading up on technique. Making perfect boiled eggs. Making crisp bacon.
Here's a list of foods (complete with sublistings) I've prepared recently and probably for the first time...
- Dandelion greens
* Bacon
- Cornbread
- Brownies (from scratch; usually use a good quality box mix)
- Egg salad
* Boiled eggs
The cool thing is that the cooking didn't frustrate me at all and I'm looking forward to attempting some of these things again and already have my ideas on how to improve. It sounds like I am new to cooking, which is not the case at all. I'm actually pretty good at preparing food. I'm just working on adding new and interesting things to the repertoire and streamlining my kitchen time.

You've come such a long way in the cooking department. I remember the good ole days of cooking in a hot pot while you were still in the bed and of course the late late nights that I would randomly surprise you with Del Taco nachos(I was a great roomie!). mm mm mmmmm
I used to hate egg salad as a child, now I love it.
We'd only eat Taco Bell with lots and lots of hot sauce. But I think I could eat my shoe with enough Taco Bell fire sauce.
@ c-note: Believe me, I'd cook in bed today if it weren't a fire hazard. I was a dumb teenager when I used to do it.
@ senorcrane: I can't eat T-Bell anymore. I'll have Del Scorcho sauce on my shoe, please. Also, same thing for me with the egg salad.
